THE life of the former Bubulo West MP, Edward Kamana Wesonga, could have been saved if doctors at Mulago Hospital intervened in time, his son, Phinehas Wesonga, has said. Phinehas claimed that his father spent over an hour at Mulago without being attended to.

THE life of the former Bubulo West MP, Edward Kamana Wesonga, could have been saved if doctors at Mulago Hospital intervened in time, his son, Phinehas Wesonga, has said. Phinehas claimed that his father spent over an hour at Mulago without being attended to.
“By the time I got a doctor who was introduced to me by one of my friends to attend to him, he had breathed his last. We did our best, but I think it was God’s plan that daddy could go that way,†Phinehas told mourners at St. Andrew’s Cathedral in Mbale on Saturday.
The spokesperson of the hospital, Eliphaz Ssekabira, yesterday declined to comment on the matter.
“I don’t have a comment on that allegation now,†he said, while referring The New Vision to the Police for details.
Phinehas described Wesonga as a loving parent. “We were very confident that he would complete his journey on earth. However, with due love, care, guidance and support, we shall uphold the values he stood for,†Phinehas said during a requiem mass presided over by the Rev. Sam Masaba, the vicar of the cathedral.
Wesonga, 61, was buried on Sunday at his home in Bulimanayai, Manafwa district.
He died on July 12 after his car collided head-on with a truck at Kigombya village near Mukono town.
Wesonga was born on February 2, 1946. He was elected into Parliament in 2001 and served one term. He lost the NRM primaries in 2006, prompting him to contest for the seat as an independent.
However, he lost to Fred Bukeni, the NRM candidate. Before joining Parliament, he worked as a procurement officer and later as a distribution manager of the African Development Project.
