POLICE FC returned to haunt SC Villa, holding them to a goalless draw that knocked the Jogoos out of the Kakungulu Cup.

The Cops, who eliminated Villa in 2004 at the semi-final stage, earned a last-four place this time again at the Jogoos’ expense. Police will take on KCC in the soccer cup semi-final on Saturday.

Police dominated the Nakivubo stadium tie but failed to add to their two goals in the first leg. Noordin Juuko hit the upright on 59 minutes while Dan Mubiru and Henry Kakooza wasted a number of chances.
Police coach Sam Timbe was disappointed his side settled for a draw.

“We had come to win,” he remarked.
His Villa counterpart Asuman Lubowa was short of words. “They failed to score. I don’t know why,” Lubowa remarked.

With Villa ejected from the Kakungulu Cup, local governing body, FUFA is likely to permit them to travel to Morogoro, Tanzania for the lucrative sh58m Tusker Cup that kicks off this Saturday.

“If FUFA consulted me on whether Villa should be allowed to travel, I would have no objection because the league is over and they are now out of Kakungulu Cup,” Competitions committee secretary Moses Magogo stated last night.
Quarter-final action continues at Wankulukuku Stadium today.

After succumbing to a 1-0 home defeat last week, Kinyara head to Kampala looking to engineer a come-back of gigantic proportion.

“We still have a chance,” Kinyara coach Leo Adraa insisted.

Express’s stingy defence, and their impressive home form under Sam Ssimbwa, can only leave any visitor at Wankulukuku trembling.

For Express, this is the only silverware left to fight for this season, having finished a disappointing ninth in the domestic league.
