CHINA-A Hong Kong woman, who blinded her boyfriend in one eye in a fight six years ago, has been jailed for jabbing a chopstick into his other eye. Last November, Po Shiu-fong, 58, accused long-time boyfriend, Kwok Wai-ming, 49, of having an affair and during the row, she stabbed a plastic chopstick into his left eye, which she had already blinded six years ago when she poked it with her finger. The next morning, they had another argument in which she grabbed a chopstick and stabbed Kwokâ€™s right eye. Two days later, he filed a police report against Po. Kwok lost 10 to 20% vision in his right eye and Po was jailed for six months.
FINLAND-Estonians took gold and silver at the world wife-carrying championships in Finland, defying rain and exhaustion to stumble along a path with women clinging upside-down to their backs. They were among 44 couples from 12 countries competing in the annual event. Couples race along a 250-metre track, tackling a pool and several hurdles. Estonian Madis Uusorg finished first, in 61.7 seconds, despite having Inga Klauson on his back with her legs around his neck.
Surprise robber exposed
SPAIN-A Spanish woman who pulled the mask off a man as he tried to strangle her was astonished to discover the attacker was her estranged husband. The woman had thought the masked man was a robber. Instead he started to strangle her till she pretended to be dead. Suddenly, she lurched at him, pulling off his mask to reveal her husband and father of her two children. The couple was in the process of divorce proceedings.
