EDITOR—It is sad that the majority of Ugandans still live in rural areas, while 32% live below the poverty line. Most of these people are in urgent need of agricultural subsides and good education, proper shelter, healthcare and modern ways of farming.

The Government and all other stakeholders should increase the budget of the agricultural sector because agriculture is a way of life and is not just a source of income and livelihood.

It is a way of living in peace and harmony with nature. Therefore there is need to:
  • Improve the welfare of farmers and all those engaged in in developing Uganda.

  • Encourage food processing since most people engaged in agriculture modernise it and also invest in research.
  • Carry out proper water management because it is the source of most diseases.

  • Improve the entire transport sector in all parts of the country.

  • Ensure our people have reliable and quality electric power in the villages

  • Improve information and communication technology.

  • Extend social security to the people in rural areas because saving among Ugandans is very low.
