THE new examination syllabus for the student’s pursuing courses in accounts will be implemented in June next year, an education official has said.

Joseph Baliddawa, the president of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) was speaking during the release of the June 2007 ICPAU examination results at Hotel Africana recently.

ICPAU is an examining body for accountants in Uganda.

The examination results included those of the Accounting Technicians Certificate of Uganda and the Certified Public Accountants of Uganda.

Thirty-three students who excelled in different institutes were given awards.
The state minister for finance, Omwony Ojok, who presided over the function, said the Government would put in place a policy to ensure academic excellence.

“We are already attracting students from neighbouring countries and this policy will make Uganda a centre of excellence in education in the region,” he said.
Ojok said the Government would also embark on the implementation of integrated financial management systems to improve accountability.

“We hope the products of this professional course will be help in the overall financial reform programme,” he said.
