UGANDA Professional Boxing Commission (UPBC) has given Justin Juuko a last minute nod to fight Tanzanian lightweight champion Deo Njiku today.

The non title fight is due in Juuko’s home town of Masaka. The UPBC move clears the way for Juuko to fight again.

Early this year, Juuko’s promotion company Jukbox was suspended following the failure to clear its financial obligations with UPBC.

Juuko, 33, (41-9-1-28k/o) is fighting for the third time since his unsuccessful bid to become a member of parliament last year. The pugilist wants to use the bout against Njiku, 28, (14-10-4-5k/o) to get a title fight in Europe next year.

At the weigh-in at Kampala Boxing Club yesterday, Juuko weighed 62.2kg, a kilogram more than his opponent.

UPBC vice president (administration) Bruhan Sekibenge who presided over the exercise, said that they had cleared Juuko but demanded an apology for his mistakes.

Njiku’s trainer Yasin Abdallah said that his boxer is in fine shape, adding that he does not expect Juuko to last the full distance.
