THE Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has blamed individual examiners over the delayed payment of marking fees.

This follows a change in policy that, for security reasons, examiners’ marking fees would be paid through electronic transfer of funds from UNEB to individual examiners’ bank accounts this year.

A statement signed by UNEB spokesperson Eva Konde on Thursday said although 90% of those who completed marking had been paid through this arrangement, some examiners had provided invalid information.

“Some examiners had submitted ATM card numbers instead of account numbers. Transfer of their money could not be effected until their actual bank account numbers were identified by the banking authorities,” the statement said.
It said UCE examiners would be paid off on completing the marking.
