THE Electoral Commission (EC) has disqualified a Mukono politician seeking to represent Najja and Buikwe sub-counties.
Teopsta Oundo also narrowly survived arrest for election fraud.
Oundo, who contested for the post of LC5 woman representative for people with disabilities, lost the Najja and Buikwe sub-counties bid to incumbent Harriet Nankabirwa in the NRM primaries, upon which she defected to the Democratic Party.
Nankabirwa petitioned the EC, claiming that her opponent had used forged signatures.
“This lady used forged signatures and her nominators and seconders were not eligible voters. That’s why the commission ruled in favour of me,” Nankabirwa said.
The office of the district registrar said Oundo forged signatures and used non-existent nominators and seconders.
EC officials cited Francis Tazoba who appeared on the list of Oundo’s nominators but was not on the voters’ register.
Oundo later confessed to having forged signatures.
