THE embattled former Rubaga South MP, Ken Lukyamuzi, has fielded his daughter Susan Nampijja Lukyamuzi to vie for his seat on a Conservative Party (CP) ticket after he was barred from contesting in this year’s parliamentary election, reports Paul Kiwuuwa.

Nampijja, 27, was nominated at 9:30am at Kampala City Hall yesterday in the company of her four brothers and CP supporters wielding the party purple flags. Lukyamuzi and his wife Mary did not turn up.

Nampijja, Lukyamuzi’s third-born, was proposed by John Sentambule and seconded by Desiree Kalyango, both CP members. She, however, said she would stand down for her father if he is allowed to be nominated.
“If my father is allowed to be nominated, I am ready to stand down for him,” Nampijja (left) said.

“I want to represent people’s interests at the grassroots. I feel competent to help the people at the grassroots. I have come to fill the place of my father Lukyamuzi, ‘the man’, who has fought hard for the environment and people’s problems in Rubaga South,” Nampijja said.

“I graduated in 2001 at Makerere University, where I was awarded a degree in Environment Management. I also got a diploma in Germany and Kenya in environment,” she added.
