UGANDA Kick-Boxing Association (UKBA) has banned Kampala Alfa Taekwondo Club from taking part in any kick-boxing related activities. UKBA accuses the club of illegally running kick-boxing activities. Kampala Alfa Taekwondo Club recently participated in the East and Central Africa championship in Zanzibar.

League set
THE Uganda Rugby Union (URU) has set February 4 as kick off for the 2006 Bell Lager League. Uganda Cup holders Mango Kobs kickstart the show against Rhino at Kampala Rugby Club, Lugogo. The league has been split into two with the top six teams playing in the Bell Lager super six competition, while the other six compete in the Bell Shield.

MUK Open
THE 2006 edition of the Makerere basketball Open will this time be more competitive with foreign university teams taking part. Makerere University sports tutor Peninah Kabenge said: “We sent invitations to Rwanda and Kenya. We hope to get positive responses from them.” Kenyatta University is among the teams invited from Kenya.

Mukula tips
HEALTH state minister Mike Mukula has advised the youth to avoid promiscuous behaviour but dedicate more time to sports as a way of fighting the spread of HIV/AIDS. "HIV/Aids has killed over one million people and led to two million orphans in the country. You can earn a living out of sports," he said while officiating at the Jinja mayor’s David Wakudumira tournament.
