THE POLICE in Mukono district have recovered the body of a 40-year-old woman who was allegedly raped and murdered by unknown people on her way back from night prayers. Mukono Police chief James Aurien said Catherine Nakalembe’s body was recovered by children in a potato plantation on Friday morning.

EC warns

THE Electoral commission (EC) yesterday cautioned candidates against campaigning past the official time, saying it would crack the whip on defiant contestants.
In a statement, EC chairman Dr. Badru Kiggundu cautioned candidates, their agents and the public against violence, intimidation and multiple registration.

Chaos at rally

An NRM rally in Fort Portal almost flopped when the party candidates demanded that posters of independents be removed from the venue. Supporters of the incumbent division LC3 chairperson, Brian Kwebiha, an independent candidate, were not wanted at the rally that was attended by NRM flag bearers, including district Woman MP candidate Margaret Muhanga.

Mulago strike

students at Mulago paramedical school yesterday went on strike over poor meals and living conditions. The students said their director, Wilson Mugisha, was reluctant to solve their problems that ranged from poor latrines and bathrooms to poor meals. The post-graduate students recently called off a one-month strike.
