BALLOT papers for next week’s presidential and parliamentary elections are expected to be flown in this morning.

Electoral Commission (EC) public relations officer Okello Jabweli yesterday said they expected flights from the UK and South Africa to deliver the ballots. Uganda will hold its first presidential and parliamentary elections under a multiparty political system in two decades next Thursday.

EC chairman Badru Kiggundu recently said the number of registered voters was 10,450,788.

Four candidates are tussling it out with the incumbent President, NRM’s Yoweri Museveni. Others are UPC’s Miria Obote, DP’s Ssebaana Kizito, Col. Kizza Besigye of the FDC and independent Dr. Abed Bwanika.
