SENSATIONAL pace bowler Patrick Ochan who spurred Uganda to its only victory over Scotland in the ICC U-19 World Cup has dedicated his man-of-match award to the entire team that finished 14th out of the 16 countries that took part in the tournament.

The squad of 14 players and three officials return today aboard Emirates Airlines and later Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) will address a press conference at 4:00pm at Lugogo.

“Without team efforts, it would be hard to get such a prestigious award. A win against Scotland was a result of contributions from each of us and I believe without the role of my teammates I would not get this accolade and therefore dedicate the souvenir to the entire team,” Ochan said before the team left Colombo yesterday.

Uganda managed one win against Scotland in the Plate championship after falling to test playing nations Pakistan, Bangladesh and New Zealand in the preliminary matches.
Meanwhile, ICC president Ehsan Mani has lauded all the youngsters from associate countries for their impressive show against Test playing nations at the championship.

The officer revealed that there was a visible growth of the game in the associate member countries as evidenced from the good contests that they put infront of Test playing nations.
Ehsan handed over the Plate Cup to Nepal after their stunning one wicket win against New Zealand in the final.

“Cricket has grown into a big and competitive sport and with more participation of associates and affiliates in such events, I am confident the future is bright,” Mani said at the closing dinner.
Africa giants Namibia and Scotland faltered in the sixth edition of the championship.
