PEACE and human-centred development are essential for eradication of poverty to achieve sustainable development, the Second Secretary at the Japan embassy has said.

Yanagida Katsaya said the Government should spend more on vocational training to realise economic development.
“If poverty is to be eradicated, it is essential that the Government increase spending on vocational training.

Vocational skills and consolidated peace are pillars for development,” he said.
The envoy was speaking on Friday at the closing ceremony of the Third Country and in-Country Training Programme organised by Nakawa Vocational Training Institute together with the Japan International Cooperation Agency.

The five-week programme involved 39 participants from five countries.
