Agric head offices to cost sh3b

CONSTRUCTION of the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industries and Fisheries headquarters in Kampala will cost about sh2.69b, the ministry’s former permanent secretary has said.

CONSTRUCTION of the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industries and Fisheries headquarters in Kampala will cost about sh2.69b, the ministry’s former permanent secretary has said.
In a hand-over report, David Obong said when the offices are shifted to Kampala from Entebbe, there would be easier operations and strengthening of coordination and collaboration with other government agencies.
“When the headquarters are constructed, there will be a reduction in the costs of renting office premises by the ministry’s agencies like Plan for Modernisation of Agriculture, National Agricultural Advisory Services and Dairy Development Authority,†Obong said.
However, he said there was need to increase resource allocations to the ministry.
David Gabindadde Musoke is the ministry’s new permanent secretary.
Obong said an additional sh2.7b is required for the 2006/07 financial year to improve operations.
