The FDC has accused the Police of foiling and failing to act on information provided to it.

Beti Kamya, the special envoy in the party president’s office, said this on Friday, in reference to Lt. Ramadhan Magara, who is charged with murdering two FDC supporters at Bulange last month.
Magara’s case failed to take off on Tuesday before the Buganda Road Court when the prosecution said there was no evidence to incriminate him.

Prosecution said the Police was still looking for evidence, forcing the trial magistrate to adjourn the case to Friday.

However, Kamya said the Police was deliberately foiling the investigations, saying she had given them a lot of information but they had not acted on any.
“I have given a lot of information to Benson Oyo Nyeko, the then Kampala Extra regional commander, the Inspector General of Police, Kale Kayihura and CID but I am surprised when they say they have no evidence.

“They have never visited the families of the people who were murdered neither have they called any of us who were at Bulange, Mengo on the day of the shooting to ask us what exactly happened,” Kamya (below) said.

She said one of the victims is admitted in Mulago Hospital Ward 3C in critical condition but Police had never interviewed him but were instead “busy investigating (FDC chief Col. Kizza) Besigye”.

But Kampala Extra CID chief George Kanonko refuted her claims, saying the press and the party were blowing the matter out of proportion.

“The case was for mention. How can they say we don’t have evidence? We are compiling the evidence and we don’t operate in the press,” he said.
