MUK don wins global entrepreneurs award

Grace Nabadda Barya, a Makerere University (MUK) lecturer, has won an international entrepreneurs award for helping female youths start their own businesses, writes David Muwanga.
Barya, who owns Monami Take-Away and Restaurant at Colline House and Albatina Garments in Kampala received the award during the 10th World Summit of Young Entrepreneurs in Sao Paulo, Brazil, recently.
The executive director of Enterprise Uganda, Charles Ocici, told at a press conference, “Entrepreneurs from Brazil, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand, China, Finland, Mexico and the UK expressed interest in assisting Ugandan enterprises restructure to do business globally. They plan to come and want to appoint local agents.”
Other competitors were Hellene Karamagi of Helika Limited, Patrick Kaija of Byte International, Robert Matsiko of Numa Feeds and Melvin Mugisha of Honest Contractors.
