A crocodile attacked a fisherman and battered his right leg on Saturday in Kamuli district.
Sources said Peter Ofwono was removing his catch from the boat when the reptile went for his leg at Lyingo landing site on the shores of Lake Kyoga. The officer in charge of the landing site, Umar Mwanja, said Ofwono was saved by his colleagues who fought the reptile.

Deserter held

THE Police in Iganga are holding a suspected army deserter who was found with a gun and 120 bullets. Iganga district Police chief Charles Katungi said Ramathan Kalema of Busei village near Iganga town was arrested on Friday after a tip off from the area Gombolola internal Security Organisation personnel.

Two dead

Two people died and six others sustained serious injuries when their vehicle, an Isuzu tipper truck, overturned several times at Nyamanga, 10km from Muhorro Teacher’s college on the Kagadi-Kyenjojo road yesterday.
Kibaale district traffic officer Hassan Onega said the injured were admitted in St. Ambrose Health Centre. Witnesses attributed the accident to speeding.

Burial delayed
THE burial of the remains of pupils of Kabarole Islamic School in Fort Portal who died in an inferno has been put on hold after the government took charge of the arrangements, reports Bizimungu Kisakye. Fort Portal mayor Asaba Ruyonga (above) yesterday said they had made preparations to bury the remains but stopped after the Government intervened.
He said they were waiting for officials from the Ministries of disaster preparedness and education.
