The iron sheets were bought by the government from Uganda Baati

SIR — This is to clarify on your story “Uganda Baati aids IDPs” published on March 19.

SIR — This is to clarify on your story “Uganda Baati aids IDPs” published on March 19.

It is the Government which is spending sh3.3b to procure and deliver 259,000 iron sheets to the IDPs in northern Uganda. It not a donation by Uganda Baati. Uganda Baati is the factory where the government is procuring the iron sheets.

Your subsequent story on March 20 did not correct this mistake.

As a result, on March 23, Mr. Charles Nkurukenzire wrote a letter seeking clarification whether these were the same iron sheets referred to in both stories.

Procuring and delivering these iron sheets to IDPs is a directive by president Yoweri Museveni (left) to resettle the people and a fulfilment of his pledge to improve their housing conditions and curb the incidence of rampant fires in the camps.

Again the iron sheets, which were procured are of gauge 30 and not 10 as your reporter, Apollo Mubiru erroneously reported.
