NATIONAL Council of Sports has called a meeting next week with the two parties at the centre of the Uganda Chess Federation leadership wrangle. The council assistant general secretary Nicholas Muramagi will meet the UCF executive elected in November with Gerald Katulege as chairman and a six-man committee of Jack Mucunguzi put in place in January.

Rings banned
SOFIA - A Bulgarian referee triggered a storm by ordering two players to take off their wedding rings before a Premier League match. Vihren have called on the Bulgarian Football Union to impose a life ban on referee Momchil Vraikov for his performance in their league match at Rodopa Smolyan at the weekend. Vihren won 2-1 and have appealed against the red card to their coach.

Mugabe flies
INTERNATIONAL Tennis Federation has given Ugandan teenage star Duncan Mugabe a slot in the International Junior championship that got underway in Cairo, Egypt Tuesday. ITF’s Dave Miley, in charge of tennis development wrote to the local tennis body communicating Mugabe’s invitation.
