UGANDA Cricket Association (UCA) will launch a disability programme funded by the UK-based Public Diplomacy Group at Lugogo oval on May 10. National Council of Sports general secretary Jasper Aligawesa has linked UCA to London Community Cricket Association that aims at developing new opportunities for people with disability to play cricket.

Rakai boost
RAKAI district council will release over sh1.2m to the district football association to help it run the ongoing mini-league. Rakai Football Association chairman Steven Semutono revealed that the LC 5 chairman Vincent Semakula had signed and accepted the release of the funds. The district football association is currently trying to identify a team to play in next year’s Super League.

Mutebi’s tip

COACH Mike Mutebi reckons that Uganda’s football future lies in young talents Jeremiah Sebuyira (17) of SC Villa and the Express duo of Nicholas Kabali (18) and Hamza Semwogerere (17). “We have been lacking match makers since Jackson Mayanja and Steven Bogere,” he said.

ITF rankings
UGANDAN players registered a drop in the International Tennis Federation junior rankings released last week. Duncan Mugabe, Ronald Semanda and Sandra Kasumba, all slipped. Semanda dropped from 1002nd to 1007th, Mugabe (1250th) and Sandra Kasumba (1084th) are 12 and 11 down.
