WITH Emma Katto’s mechanics from the United Kingdom in town, Speed Merchant does not see anyone beating him this weekend’s Alpha Pearl of Africa Uganda rally.
“Our fans should expect nothing less than a win. UK mechanics are already here so the Subaru N 10 will be in top condition,” Katto who commands a big fan base told The New Vision yesterday.
Katto and co-driver Busingye Rwabwogo will be making a second appearance in the Subaru Impreza version N 10.
On his first outing in the car in the KCB Safari rally last month, Katto finished fifth to reap four Africa Rally Championship (ARC) points that effectively put him in contention for the continental title.
Katto, eyeing his maiden Pearl rally victory, will have to contend with the new generation of local top guns in Ponsiano Lwakataka, Omar Mayanja and Ronald Ssebuguzi, and a host of foreign competitors vying for the African title.
Katto’s participation has added the shine on Uganda's most prestigious rally that is the third round of the ARC series.
The rally will start with a super special stage at Lubiri on Friday ahead of the second and third legs in Luwero on Saturday and Sunday.
The rally organised by Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda is sponsored by Alpha Dairy Products.
