Dr. Ssenyonjo only needs to repent!

SIR — I was dismayed by Mr. P. Nsubuga’s letter titled “Ssenyonjo has shown more concern than COU” published on April 18. I have followed with interest what has been going on between the Church of Uganda and Christopher Ssenyonjo. The Church welcomes all sinners, including homosexuals. This is not for glorifying the devil. It is for helping sinners to repent of their sins. Ssenyonjo was rejected as a church leader because he has been helping homosexuals to continue with homosexuality. It is true our Lord Jesus Christ identified with sinners like prostitutes and tax collectors but it was for the purpose of leading them to repentance (Luke 5:32). The Church is following his example. Faithful servants of Christ uphold his teachings. Ssenyonjo still has a big opportunity to be forgiven if he repents. God is not interested in the death of anyone.
