FORMER SC Villa tactician Micho Sredojevic is confident newly appointed Uganda national coach Tomislav Sivic possesses sufficient expertise to elevate Cranes to the 2008 Nations Cup finals.

“Tomislav is a good intelligent man, good enough to help Uganda qualify for the 2008 Nations Cup,” Micho said on phone from Ethiopia.
“I know him so well. I am not better than him and in Serbia he is recognised as one of the best and among the top upcoming young coaches in Europe,” Micho added.

Micho had a successful stint at Villa Park in 2000-2003.
He guided Villa to the east and central Africa title in 2003.

Sivic was confirmed on Monday as national coach, whose first assignment would be to help Uganda make its first Nations Cup appearance since Ghana in 1978.
“If I thought I wouldn’t make it (Ghana 2008) then I would not have come,” Sivic said.

The Serbian, who holds a UEFA Pro-licence, is also expected to offer technical assistance to the U-17, U-20 and U-23 youth sides.
“The basis of success is a vibrant youth system,” he added.
