Kapelebyong MP Johnson Malinga had problems filling a puzzle relating to the resettlement of IDPs in his constituency. When the disaster preparedness state minister Amongin Aporu told Parliament that sh500m had been allocated for the purchase of ox-ploughs, Malinga rose on appoint of information and said, “Mr. Speaker I am really puzzled by the minister’s statement. she is talking about thousands of ox-ploughs a bigger number than the oxen we have and there is no mention of provision of oxen. Are we going to tie the IDPs to pull the ploughs or what.”Amongin clarified that for each plough a pair of oxen would be provided.

Protocol mishap
Was it a protocol mishap or disintegration? A workshop on Integrated Resource Management was officially opened twice by two different chief guests last week! First chief guest to arrive was Deputy Vice Chancellor Makerere University Prof. Bakibinga. Shortly after, the Minister of State for water Ms. Maria Mutagamba arrived and apologised for coming a bit late and immediately embarked on the role of chief guest.
After talking, she announced, “I take this opportunity to officially open this workshop.” The participants started whispering amongst themselves how uncoordinated the organisers were.

Mbabazi suggests
Despite the country’s return to multiparty politics defence minister Amama Mbabazi is still pessimistic. While contributing to debate on the sitting arrangement in parliament just before the closure of the 7th Parliament, he proposed an amendment to insert the words “if any” after the word “opposition” to make “opposition if any”. He said, “I envisage a situation whereby in future there will be no opposition even under multipartyism.” Nandala Mafabi Budadiri west could not take it lying down and retorted, “You are going to kill all of them,” to which the minister responded, “We shall not kill except in the political battlefield.”

Movt ‘mugole’
Jessica Eriyo, one of the NRM party survivors in the recently concluded parliamentary election in West Nile has been nicknamed mugole among the fellow movement MPs.
During a farewell party at Parliament on Thursday to console those who lost their seats, almost every person who spoke, including the vice-president, Professor Gilbert Bukenya and John Nasasira the minister for works, would congratulate Jessica Eriyo for retaining her seat which had lots of controversies that led the Electoral Commission to the extension of polls.
