THE Banyankore cultural Foundation (BCF) has rejected a meeting of clan heads called by Nkore Cultural Trust patron John Barigye.
In a May 15 letter, the foundation said Barigye did not have authority to convene a clan heads meeting.
“It should be noted that Mr. John Barigye has no historical, cultural, political or legal authority over clans and clan institutions among Banyankore.
“It should further be noted that traditionally, Banyankore have no clan leaders because their clan structures were, and still are fluid and dispersed,” the letter reads.
Invitation letters signed by William Katatumba on April 9 were dispatched to various people inviting them to Barigye’s home for a meeting.
But Bishop Paul Bakyenga said yesterday, “Those people have misunderstood what we are doing.”
