THE Alur cultural head, Phillip Olarker Rawini III, has saluted President Yoweri Museveni for appointing two Alur sons as ministers.

Rawini said, “This gesture from the President is a positive recognition of the consistent political support the Alur and other ethnic communities of Nebbi district have been giving to the NRM since it came to power in 1986.”

Museveni appointed Eng. Simon D’Ujanga and Fred Jacan Omach as state ministers of energy and finance general duties respectively. D’Ujanga is the MP for Okoro County while Omach represents Jonam County in Parliament.

Rawini, who had just flown back from the UK, urged the ministers to serve the government selflessly and network with other stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.

This was in a statement signed by Prince Angala Opar Jalumvor, the kingdom’s executive head of the Alur royal council in Kampala.

Rawini also thanked Museveni and the Government for restoring cultural institutions.

“These institutions were the age-old vanguards of community identity and partners in development,” the king said, pledging continued solidarity with the Government.
