THE Office of the President is to purchase 50 double cabin pick-up trucks for Resident District Commissioners (RDCs).
According to a policy statement on Wednesday to Parliament by the presidency minister, Beatrice Wabudeya, the President’s Office will purchase 22 trucks for RDCs in the new districts and 30 others for old stations without trucks.
“About sh1.25b has been allocated to this programme for the financial year 2006/2007,” the statement said. The presidency requires sh13.37b for recurrent budget and sh2.06b for development expenditure.
The statement said the presidency, through the department of finance and administration, shouldered the responsibility for the operational requirements and administrative support for 77 RDCs and 38 deputy RDCs.
Wabudeya said, “The presidency continues to provide overall leadership in public policy management, promotion of good governance, dissemination of security information to relevant organs and mobilisation of the population for development.”
She said the presidency would work to ensure good governance through zero tolerance for corruption and promotion of ethics and integrity.
