NATIONAL champion Ponsiano Lwakataka has welcomed the entry of four top Tanzanian drivers in the MOSAC rally slated for August 5-6.

“The opportunity has presented itself for me to prove to the Tanzanians that my pace in the Pearl rally was genuine.
Many drivers, especially foreigners, are still suspicious about my pace. But this is a special stage rally, they won’t come up with wild imaginations that ‘maybe I am using two cars’,” Lwakataka said with a hearty laugh.

Lwakataka, in an inferior Subaru N 4, put up a mind-boggling pace that left an array of competitors in superior cars trailing in his dust.

Tanzanian national champion Saleh Balahbou and his Stado Rally teammates Omar Bakhressa, (Subaru N 11), Ahmed Huwel (Subaru N 10) and 60-year-old Pano Calavarius (Subaru N 10) will compete in the rally.

Lwatakata said local rival Ronald Ssebuguzi was his only threat in the Motorsport Africa Club organised rally.

“As long as my car is in sound mechanical condition, it’s only Ssebuguzi who can attempt to get closer to me,” Lwakataka said.
