CANADIAN bulb manufacturer, Genesis Advantage Incorporation, wants to submit a bid to supply 600,000 energy-saving bulbs (compact fluorescent bulbs).

The company’s president, Daniel Lang, said in a statement issued to Market Wire recently that it was entering a joint venture with a leading government importer and supplier of overseas products.

“This is one of several energy-conservation projects being funded by the World Bank. We expect to see an expansion of our overseas product entries in the next month,” Lang said.

Market Wire is the third largest newswire in the US and a full-service distributor of company press releases and financial news announcements.

Genesis Advantage Inc. is a publicly-traded company formed to take advantage of unique, technological opportunities in the energy and energy-conservation industries.

Energy ministry officials said Umeme would distribute the energy-saving bulbs the Government plans to import this year.

“The procurement and distribution will be through Umeme since they are in contact with the consumers,” the energy efficiency commissioner, James Baanabe, said.

In this year’s Budget, the Government announced plans to import 600,000 energy-saving bulbs, which experts say will save at least 30MW of power if they replace regular bulbs.

The contract to supply the bulbs, Baanabe said during an interview, would be open to international bidding. He said the World Bank, Umeme and the Government would agreed on the procurement plan.
