When you thought the annoying rains and ensuing chilly conditions on Friday could ‘kill’ ‘General’ Mega Dee’s open-air launch at Kati Kati, it brought it to life.
For a person of Mega Dee’s stature, attracting a full house at the Bell lager sponsored Nimerudi album launch was obvious. Fans danced, cheered and ululated almost every artiste on stage. They, however, spared the best for the singing Generals, Gen. Elly Tumwiine and ‘Gen’ Mega Dee.
When Gen. Tumwiine sang his Malaria song you would be forgiven for thinking about Mchakamchaka class. The song, however, captivated the crowd.
The best moment was when the two Generals stepped on stage to do one of Mega Dee’s songs, Karibu Afande.
With well-rehearsed moves they staged a mock parade, which did the trick. Gen. Tumwiine, however, turned down the chance to sing with the President of Fire Base, Bobi Wine.
The sh5m Mega Dee got for the Nimerudi album, never seemed to matter for a moment. What came to light was that Nimerudi is one of his best efforts, one that will definitely bag him a PAM award.
