The Speaker of parliament, Edward Ssekandi (right), has said President Yoweri Museveni’s government had accommodated more people of different political, religious and tribal backgrounds than any other past regime.
He wondered why many continued to criticise him despite his contribution to the development of the country.
Ssekandi cited the government contribution to Buganda and Museveni’s efforts to promote buganda’s interests.
Ssekandi said this on Wednesday at his home in Kizungu zone in Masaka municipality where he met his supporters after the high court dismissed a petition filed against him by Democratic Party member Jude Mbabaali.
In his petition, Mbabali accused Ssekandi and the Electoral Commission of election fraud and intimidation of voters in the last parliamentary elections for Bukoto Central in Masaka.
Justice P. M. Mugamba dismissed the case on technical grounds, saying Mbabaali failed to personally serve Ssekandi with the petition and therefore was not party to the petition. Ssekandi said though he had never participated in the bush war struggles, he was recognised by Museveni’s government.
