A three-point advantage saw Africa win the 2006 inter-house sports championships at Makerere College School (MACOS) last Saturday.

Africa got 1,868 points beating Simba with 1,865 to second place. Kabalega got 1,855 points, Muteesa 1,793, Lumumba 1,720 while Bikangaga trailed with 1,701 points.

The six houses competed in football, basketball, athletics, high jump, volleyball, tug-of- war (rope pulling), sack race and peeling competitions.

Parents competed with teachers in the tug-of-war category. Rose Izizinga, the head mistress urged parents to encourage their children to engage themselves in sports.

“Sports builds a healthy mind in a healthy body. Even at Makerere University, sportsmen and women get additional points because of their talent,” She said. Court martial chief Elly Tumwine and city tycoon Mike Ezra attended.
