BANK of Uganda (BOU) has been named as a leading violator of the Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets (PPDA) Act, which lays out guidelines for procurement and disposal of public assets.

In their report to Parliament yesterday, the finance committee said, “This is one of the most abused activities, with high levels of corruption. There are many institutions violating it.”

The report, read by committee chairman William Nsubuga (Buvuma), recommended that the Government should strengthen the PPDA to implement the Act closely.

Opposition leader Ogenga Latigo lamented the observation, saying there was urgent need to sort out the mess in PPDA.
