State minister in charge of economic monitoring Maurice Kagimu has expressed interest in contesting for the bukomansimbi MP seat. In an interview recently, Kagimu said he would stand on the NRM ticket. Court recently nullified Hajji Iddi Lubyayi’s election for lack of academic qualifications.

The state has reinstated criminal charges of promoting sectarianism against Jinja Municipality West MP Harry Kasigwa. A similar charge against him was in April dismissed by the chief Magistrate’s over irregularities on the charge sheet. In the file, Kasigwa is accused of promoting sectarianism.
