KASSIM Ouma’s wife Cassie Jamison (left) has pleaded for the former world boxing champion to be pardoned by the UPDF for deserting the army.
Jamison revealed at a press conference yesterday that her trip to Uganda was part of efforts to clear the former IBF super welterweight champion.
Jamison, flanked by her brothers-in-law Hamza Wandera and Solo Tadeo, appealed to the Uganda government to pardon her husband.
“I’m here on Kassim’s concern about getting pardon. I would love to leave the country tomorrow with a clear stand,” appealed the American.
She however stressed Ouma’s continued love for his nation. “Kassim has always looked forward to coming back to his country but is yet to get clearance. He promises to continue raising the Ugandan flag high whenever he enters the ring.”
Jamison said she has been thrilled by her 11-day stay in Uganda during which she visited Ouma’s village in Busia.
“It’s been a great time seeing where Kassim came from; his people mostly his grandmother, whom he clearly misses,” said Jamison.
Ouma deserted the Ugandan army in 1997 and started off a professional boxing career in the US.
