KANUNGU district has won this year’s National Literacy Award followed by Jinja.
The Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social development in partnership with civil society organisations under the coordination of literacy network for uganda constituted the annual award for the best two districts.
Kanungu excelled in developing literacy plans with literacy stakeholders and it paid literacy instructors on a quarterly basis
The competitors included Gulu, Yumbe, Kotido, Jinja, Kamuli, Bushenyi, mukono, Bundibugyo, Kanungu and Kabarole.
