THE Prime minister, Prof. Apolo Nsibambi, on Friday launched the website for Northern Uganda Social Action Fund (NUSAF) in Gulu municipality.
The function took place at the new offices of the Northern Uganda Monitoring Unit next to Acholi Inn Hotel. Nsibambi had earlier addressed district leaders and UN humanitarian agencies and NGOs at Gulu University Main Hall.
The NUSAF website is www.nusaf.go.ug. Nsibambi also launched the Annual Journalists Award and Traditional Awards.
He asked every Ugandan and the international community to make use of the website to access any information about NUSAF development programmes in the region.
He said the launch was to enhance dissemination of information to create awareness that will empower stakeholders and communities in northern Uganda, on development paradigms.
Nsibambi said the empowerment campaign would strengthen the people’s capacity to identify, prioritise, plan, implement and manage sustainable development initiatives that will improve socio-economic services and opportunities.
Nsibambi said the best journalist would annually win sh5m for excellent development communication and traditional media awards would be worth sh10m. He said runners-up would also win ‘reasonable awards’.
