The name Monica Ntende may not sound familiar on the music scene, but the 45-year-old gospel artiste’s song, Asaana Kwebaza, is contending for the PAM Awards Best Gospel Single category. She is also an actress, a songwriter and playwright.

Monica Ntende is contending with Martin Seku (Endongo Ya Yesu), Judith Babirye (Bera Nange) and the River Nile Crew (Ali Omu) for the accolade.

“Judith Babirye is no doubt my closest contender, but it doesn’t mean that she will win the award,” she says. Asaana Kwebaza is the title-track for Ntende’s second album, which was released last year.
