SEVENTY-SIX-year-old Albino Jalobo’s daughter led him on a memorable journey to Arua Hospital on Wednesday, writes Frank Mugabi.

He was looking out for the Lions Club of Arua-sponsored eye cataract operation to salvage the sight he lost three years ago.

After a short operation led by Dr. Willy Andima, a consultant ophthalmologist, Albino regained sight in his right eye.
The overjoyed old man initially thought both his eyes could see, until doctors proved it to him by covering the ‘new’ eye. He couldn’t see anything.

Though he was yet to be operated on the second eye, Albino said, “I can see. God bless those who assisted us. I can walk home alone.”

Albino is one of the beneficiaries of the free eye cataract operations organised by the Lions Club of Arua at three major hospitals in Arua and Koboko districts.
