KAMPALA - USAID has embarked on a new anti-malaria campaign. The campaign is dubbed, “Double your protection against Malaria, get your net treated.” It is a partnership with the Uganda Programme for Human and Holistic Development and Malaria Consortium. Uganda is one of the first three countries that were provided with funds from the US to implement the first year of the President’s Malaria Initiative.

Stakeholders complain
KAMPALA - Stakeholders inspecting the one-stop centre at the Malaba railway border crossing have complained of the slow pace of implementing it. They said, “Getting furniture has taken long. How long will it be before road transport is considered for improvement?”

ICT centre launched
KAMPALA - An ICT centre to provide training for small-scale enterprises has been launched. Tourism state minister Serapio Rukundo said the project implemented by the Uganda Industrial Research Institute and the International Institute for Communication and Development would counter challenges like limited access to market information.

Accountant charged
KAMPALA - Court has charged a senior accountant and marketing manager of East African General Insurance Company with causing a financial loss.
Twine Mukama, the accountant, and Loyce Mpairwe allegedly transferred money from their employer’s account to their personal accounts.
