SANYU FMâ€™s Hussein Ahmed has joined the race for the post of USPA general secretary. The sports scribesâ€™ body go for their elections today at Lugogo starting 10am. NCS assistant secretary Justine Ligyalingi is the returning officer. Ahmed who unsuccessfully contested for the general secretaryâ€™s post in the last two elections, declared his candidature on Friday.

Kooki county has rejected Liburd Masembe from officiating any of their matches. Kooki sports committee general secretary Stanley Ndawula, said that Masembeâ€™s impartiality was doubtful. This was contained in a letter to the Masaza Cup chief Abbas Kaawaase.

The annual competition, sponsored by Unilever, has drawn a field of 21 schools including new entrants from Mbale and Mbarara. At stake is a top prize of a mini-library worth sh1.2m for the winners.
