SANYU FM’s Hussein Ahmed has joined the race for the post of USPA general secretary. The sports scribes’ body go for their elections today at Lugogo starting 10am. NCS assistant secretary Justine Ligyalingi is the returning officer. Ahmed who unsuccessfully contested for the general secretary’s post in the last two elections, declared his candidature on Friday.

Kabindi tops
William Kabindi and Gilbert Ofuyuru lifted the doubles crown in the Kisumu badminton tournament that ended over the weekend. Brenda Mugabi also lifted the U-12 crown as other Ugandans bowed out at the semi-final stages.

Not Masembe
Kooki county has rejected Liburd Masembe from officiating any of their matches. Kooki sports committee general secretary Stanley Ndawula, said that Masembe’s impartiality was doubtful. This was contained in a letter to the Masaza Cup chief Abbas Kaawaase.

The angels
White Angels Primary School defend their Blue Band Junior Bikers Race title in the grand final at Namboole stadium today. The annual competition, sponsored by Unilever, has drawn a field of 21 schools including new entrants from Mbale and Mbarara. At stake is a top prize of a mini-library worth sh1.2m for the winners. Mbale’s Namatala and Covenant are taking part.
