TRANSPAPER, a leading news print dealer, recently trained machine operators in colour quality printing.

The five-day workshop covered basic printing theory, press knowledge, colour theory and paper knowledge.

It also covered test printing, measuring experience, printing plate and problem solving.

The Uganda Printers Association chief, Stephen Wakida, said the training would make them more competitive.

“The industry is growing in machinery technology. This training will enhance competition and quality printing services,” he said.

“We have the machinery but what have been lacking were the skills to run and maintain them.”

Transpaper operations manager Srinivasa Reddy said the training which is also conducted in Kenya and Tanzania was aimed at understanding principles of multi colour printing in offset, handling and controlling materials and equipment around the printing machine to secure high quality before and during the production process.
