THE dfcu Bank has donated household items to the Aloyi Internally Displaced Peoples Camp (IDPs) in Lira.

Arthur Kiwanuka, handed over the items to the beneficiaries last week.

Kiwanuka said the donation was the initiative of the employees to help the people suffering in the camps.
“The staff of dfcu came with an idea to collect items like clothes and other household utensils which were topped up by the company.

The donation is also in line with our Corporate Social Responsibility programmes where the company gives back to the community. Dfcu will continue extending help to the community for improvement of life,” said Kiwanuka.

David Mulobole, dfcu Branch Manager Lira said they were committed to contribute to community improvement particularly to the disadvantaged.

Terence Awar, the District Community Development Officer said the key challenge now was that resettling people in their homes as peace returns to the region but hailed dfcu for contributing to the good of the community.

He said the number of people in the camps was reducing with particular reference to Aloyi camp which had 45000 but has dropped to about 5000 now.
