Must we first eat rats?

SIR — Hoima road has now been baptised “Zzimwe road” because it is a disaster! Zzimwe has done more harm than good. There are uncountable ‘crater lakes’ on the road and many accidents have been registered between Kasubi and Jenina almost daily.

Trucks loaded with goods have at times ended up in the wetland along the road while others have failed to balance on the uneven road hence causing accidents. Accidents are not only harmful to the victims but also cause intolerable traffic jams.

I wonder whether this kind of tolerance is part of the contract terms and conditions signed between Zzimwe and the government. Must we first eat rats like the Tororo men in order to catch the attention of the authorities concerned?
