BE disciplined, UPDF officers and Amuka militias have been told.
The Chief of staff of the Land Forces, Brig. Geoffrey Muheesi, said, “We are on a sub-contract headed by President Museveni, the commander-in-chief. We shall not tolerate indiscipline in the army. If you cannot perform well, we shall axe you and create room for disciplined and competent officers.â€
He was passing out 242 senior and junior UPDF non-commissioned officers and Amuka militia commanders at the 5th Division headquarters in Acolpii, Pader district last week. The officers completed a three-month military and political course.
We are not grooming you to only command but also to lead the society. We shall continue to mould you to be good leaders,†he added.
He said the Government was working on the welfare of the army as a top priority so that the soldiers benefit and protect the sovereignty of the country.
“The future is going to be tough because the war in northern Uganda is ending. There is going to be competitive command after the war. If you don’t perform well, you will be left out. We need officers who are bold and innovative,†Muheesi added.
Capt. Anech Mubangizi said the 183 Amuka militias would help in commanding platoon units.
