The district will soon have a large latrine coverage and drinking water. Joy Drilling Deliverance Uganda is working closely with local leaders to effect this. The project coordinator, Vincent Okeng, said about 75% of diseases, which normally attack the rural communities, are a result of drinking contaminated water and having low latrine coverage. This was during a sensitisation workshop on water and sanitation at Apipit village in Barr sub-county recently.

Govt to spray DDT after July

The Government will spray DDT in people’s houses in the next financial year, the Minister of State for Primary Health Care, Dr Emmanuel Otala, has said. He was addressing mourners at the burial of Daniel Kasujja, a medical assistant, at Kamuganja village recently. Otala urged residents to support government on DDT.
