Rukungiri district needs about 80 teachers to boost universal Primary Education.
The District Service Commission chairperson, the Rev. Moses tindiwensi, said last week recruitment was underway so that new teachers are appointed before the term begins in February.
The chief administration officer, Frank Ntaho, said they would maintain the 1:50 teacher pupil ratio.

Youths jailed
THE Fort Portal Grade One Court has sentenced two youths to two years in jail for causing grievous harm to a neighbour.
Court heard that Wilson Katusabe and Eric Kwikiriza, both of Busoro sub-county in Kabarole district, assaulted Saidi Aliba on April 19, 2003.

150 to sue
Over 150 pensioners who worked for Hoima district local government have threatened to sue the district over failure to pay their pension arrears amounting to sh280m.
During a meeting at the rukurato Hall on Saturday, the pensioners also said they would not support the third term if their complaints were not addressed.
