The Democratic Party (DP) faction led by Nasser Sebaggala has asked party president Dr. Paul Ssemogerere to reconcile with them in order to register the party.
The group said they had received a letter from the Registrar General’s (RG) office saying three groups led by Sebaggala, ssemogerere and Francis Bwengye had submitted applications to register the party.
But Mariano Drametu from Sebaggala’s faction told a press conference at Parliament yesterday that Bwengye did not submit an application.
“Bwengye’s application only exists in the imagination of the rg. When the rg received our application for registration, he failed to gazette us as per requirements of the law,” Drametu said.
He urged the RG to unite the factions and come up with one application.
Donge Opar, the faction’s lawyer, Robert Kitariko and Santos Halima attended.
