CONSTRUCTION of the sh5.9b school for former LRA rebels and captives by the education ministry is progressing, with two blocks for the boys’ dormitories almost complete.

Dennis Ojwee reports that the school is scheduled for completion by August this year.

The school, located three kilometres on the Gulu-Kitgum road, is expected to accommodate 720 pupils in eight dormitories and to have an administration block, kitchen, and a sick-bay.

Engineer Patrick Twiine said on Friday that the work was going according to plan.

He, however, said they were facing problems like inadequate materials, which are not readily available in Gulu and have to be ferried from Adjumani, Mpigi and Kampala.

He said the manpower was also in adequate, adding that there are 108 workers, 35 of whom are masons, 10 carpenters, five steel fixers, six foremen, three drivers, an accountant and a store keeper.
